Deputy Secretary Department of Education
Department of Education Deputy Secretary Andrew Finch said today that in the event of very high fire danger ratings, or the existence of any uncontrolled fires, an assessment will be made on a case by case basis as to whether a school should remain open.
“The department has not changed its policy in this regard."
“Assessments as to whether a school closes are made in collaboration with the Tasmanian Fire Service taking into account all known factors including the forecasts available, the status of any existing uncontrolled fires and the individual school bushfire response plan,” Mr Finch said.
